Firearms Information in Capitol Reef National Park

Within Capitol Reef National Park, the carrying of firearms is allowed. People who are allowed to lawfully possess firearms according to federal, Utah, and local laws are the only ones who are allowed to possess firearms in the park according to a federal law that went into effect on February 22, 2010.

It is the duty of the visitor to understand and comply with all local, state, and federal firearm laws that may apply in the state of Utah. Inside of federal buildings, carrying firearms is not allowed at all.

The middle-south portion of the state of Utah is home to Capitol Reef National Park. It is located throughout the Waterpocket Fold, which is a lengthy fold in the earth that features remarkable rock formations, canyons, and layers of golden sandstone.

There are many interesting things to visit in the park, such as the Capitol Reef, the Hickman Bridge Arch and Chimney Rock pillar which is famous for the white sandstone domes it contains. The northernmost part of the park is where you’ll find Cathedral Valley with its towering cliffs.
