Buyer's Guide: Deer Targets

The Perfect Way to Introduce Beginners to the Wonderful World of Shooting Target Practice

Are you thinking of taking up the sport of hunting deer with a bow and arrow? I used to be a big skeptic until I actually tried it. At first, I thought it would be silly to spend money on something like this. After all, hunting deer is a luxury that most people can't afford. You don't need to worry too much about shooting the occasional rabbit or squirrel that wanders into your yard, but rather you want something that will give you a solid target. Most people find that having 3D deer targets worked out the best.

Not only can you see exactly where was shooting when taking the shot, but it was also easy to aim at the areas that would've wanted to shoot at when going hunting. Another benefit besides being able to aim at your targets was the accuracy. When you use bucks, you'll often shoot over a hundred feet. This is great if you're trying to get in as many different places as possible. With other deer vitals, you might be shooting a few yards away. This accuracy makes using deer targets much more enjoyable.

The next benefit was that because the deer vitals are so close to the actual weapon, you know where it's going to hit. Not only can you adjust it to get better placement, but the aiming point will be very exact. Some hunters don't think that's a benefit, but it really is a huge benefit.

Even though you can use deer targets that you make out of paper, they aren't very realistic looking. They're flat and don't have any kind of texture. In addition, you can't change the wood for different types of animals. There are some models available with different colored wood stains that can add a lot to the hunting experience.

I personally feel that paper targets are a little boring. They're not very challenging or even visually appealing. There's something about paper targets that I prefer using live animals for hunting. Live animals give the hunter so much more freedom of movement, which makes practicing firearm skills that much more fun. Plus, if you're a beginner, you can practice slowly and gradually working on your aim until you master it.

I know that some people like to hunt with actual firearms. The problem with that is that most hunters don't have any real-life experience with using these firearms. Paper targets can be used effectively as a guide for your first few hunts, but eventually you'll want to try something a bit more challenging. I recommend learning how to shoot from a stand. These stands will provide a much more authentic experience while teaching you how to hold the firearm and achieve a more stable aim.

If you're going to start out with a pair of 3d targets, I highly recommend the American Hunting Bench Target. This is a great pair of targets that will get you started in the right direction. The design of the targets closely follows the shape of an actual tree. This makes it easy for you to stay focused on your aim while practicing your aiming skills.

The last piece of advice I would give to any potential hunters who are considering purchasing paper targets is to make sure that you purchase quality paper targets. In the end, you'll be using this target to practice with for quite some time. If you don't enjoy the experience, you won't be able to stay focused and happy with your choice of hunting target. For me, quality means having something I can shoot accurately every time.
