Types Of Gun Sights
Gun sights are devices used for aiming at a specific distance at the time of a gun shot. It helps to align the trajectory of the bullet with the sight line, thus enabling the user to align the shot with a known goal. A gun sight is normally a movable aiming device typically used for aiming at a specific distance, visually aligning optical instruments, ranged weapons or other optical detection devices with the desired target. The range of the sight is usually expressed as the reciprocal of the gun's bore length in millimeters; in the United States, the maximum range of this device is 100 yards. However, some sights are available in other countries that provide a further range of up to 500 yards.
There are two main types of gun sights that may be used: fixed and detachable. Fixed gun sights are often mounted on the left side of the firearm. The term "fixed" indicates that the sight can not be rotated. On the other hand, the term "detachable" indicates that it can be rotated along an axis relative to the firearm. In addition, both the fixed and detachable types may also be combined, which allows for a combination of aiming features.

Gun Sights can be custom made, for a number of uses. They can be made for use with one's chosen rifle, shotgun, handgun, or even a cross bow. Custom designs can be made with various accessory add-ons including laser pointers, mounts for optics, laser emitters, etc. Gun Sights can be used for hunting, for security, for surveillance, or as personal decorations.

These sights produce a beam of red light that is parallel to the bore of the firearm, which helps to align the target with the crosshairs.
