An Intrinsic bow 10 Degree Bow Sight
A pendulum bow sight is designed to help hunters focus on their crosshairs as they shoot. What are pendulum bows? A pendulum bow is mounted on a bow with a rope or chain that pendulates up and down to create a oscillating action that produces a bow-shooting motion.
The mechanical advantage of this action is that it provides a greater opportunity for a consistent, even shooting position. This type of bow-shooting position has a higher "hitting power" than other hunting positions that are not pendulum bows. The pendulum bow sight benefits hunters because it provides an excellent accuracy factor. Accuracy improves as the "punch ratio" of the bow and scope combine.
How are these sights mounted? The best way to use a pendulum bow sight is with an adjustable pole piece on either side of the tree stand. That way, the hunter is able to place his or her target at any angle and at any range. Some hunters prefer to shoot their targets from a tree stand while others prefer to use holsters. Holsters can often be adjusted through the addition or removal of a removable target plate.
How are these sights manufactured? Many manufacturers use extremely high quality pinions and arbors. Typically, the pinion is made from a solid brass shaft with a helical pin inserted into the center. On the opposite side, the arbor is made out of steel and is threaded like a barrel plug. It is installed through the pin or screw via a ball-bearing adapter. This assembly is extremely quiet and extremely durable construction means that the pinion and arbor will last for years.
How is this unique invention different from other hunting accessories? The pendulum is the first bow sight with two sighting points. Unlike bow blinds, the creation of which are often a hassle due to their size and design, these sights eliminate much of the headache associated with aiming. This is because it is nearly impossible to have two sight points on a traditional bow. The invention eliminates this problem and therefore allows hunters to enjoy hours of enjoyment simply by taking their equipment to the range.
Are there any drawbacks to this product? One major disadvantage associated with this product is the fact that the assembly process is extremely difficult. The only two sight pins required to attach the assembly to the bow is very large and therefore, the assembly process can be very time consuming. Additionally, due to the assembly process, this invention does not offer the user any improved accuracy over traditional blinds due to the fact that the two pinion design does not allow for the adjustment of elevation and windage.
Does this invention offer any protection or security to the user? In accordance with U.S. Patent Application No. 5761, "The apparatus and method of using a bow rest on a platform such as a deer stand which has a vertical lift so that when the hunter moves to a new place on the platform will help him/her to shoot at the target. There are two pins in the bow sight that will push into the side of the target and will push the pin in the opposite direction so that the shot will come off the bow." In accordance with this patent application, the sight is essentially designed to ensure that the hunter is completely protected while hunting.
How are targets identified during hunting? The patents do not address this question, however they do identify the general application of the sight.
