Buyer's Guide: Plano Ammo Box

Plano Ammo Box - Storing and Protecting Your ammo

Plano ammo boxes were created for your protection as a sportsmen. They keep your firearms, ammunition and accessories organized and in one place so that they will last a long time. You will appreciate the ease of use and the security they provide.

Plano ammo boxes were designed to provide you maximum protection for your valuables. They are made from heavy-duty, weather-resistant plastic for long lasting performance. They also are waterproof, color-coordinated, easy to remove or add ammunition, spotting scopes, laser pointers and other optics for fast, easy identification. You can safely store all kinds of accessories, optics and even your favorite rifles, with these handy boxes.

The front cover of your plano ammo box is designed to keep your valuable items safe and secure. They usually have an o-ring seal to keep moisture or humidity out. This is important since the rim of the box may come in contact with your firearm when it is stored improperly. The waterproof, color-coordinated front covers will also help prevent dirt, dust, debris or any gunk from coming into contact with your valuables.

There are Plano ammo boxes in several different styles, shapes and sizes. Some are made from sturdy plastic, stainless steel or black (odor green) polymer. There are some that are large and rectangular, others that are oblong and square, and then there are those that are very small, almost toy-like. Whatever your preference in a plano ammo box be sure to choose one that is large enough to hold what you want to store.

You should be considering two main things when selecting a Plano ammo box for long term or even multiple usage use: durability and appearance. A heavy duty box will likely stand up to your typical shooting session over time, especially if you plan on using it for many years. It will be very useful to have a Plano ammo box that is not only durable but looks good as well. An old soda can or other easily abused container could work very well. If you just need the box for a specific use, however, look for one that has reinforced corners and a thick layer of foam for extra protection.

Many Plano ammo boxes come standard with an o-ring seal to keep the contents tightly sealed. Some models come with a polyethylene protective liner while others come without. If you plan on storing ammunition in your Plano, Texas home for a long period of time, the latter option may be preferable, since the former will be more prone to collecting dust or other foreign materials over time. If you are looking for an ammo box for just one or two uses, an o-ring seal may not be required, but it will certainly help keep things more secure.

An ammo box should also be made of sturdy material, preferably something with a thick steel shell. While not necessary, it is definitely nice to get an m TM ( molded thermo-molded) for insulation against heat and/or cold. Although Plano is not known for its excellent weather, your box will be used in a warm climate where a little protection against the occasional ice storm or downpond would be welcomed. The thicker steel of a Plano ammo box generally resists rust better than the lighter aluminum or plastic models will, although the heavier the load, the more you may want to invest in a m TM to protect your ammo. It's also a good idea to find a Plano ammo box with a bull latch rather than an o-ring seal so that you have some added security against pests.

When considering the various features and accessories that you need in your Plano ammo box, remember that quality is more important than anything else. While you may be interested in a Plano ammo box because it's cheap or because it's from a well-known manufacturer, you need to keep in mind what you'll be storing in it. Steel waterproof nerf boxes tend to work best for long term storage and are not too heavy, while aluminum or plastic might work if you intend to transport it on a regular basis. Finally, if you plan on using your Plano ammo box for training or target practice, you might consider investing in a m TM for extra protection against snags or other damage.
