Pros and Cons of the Truglo Red Dot Sight
For those of you who need the fast acquisition features of a red dot with a great view but who aren't necessarily over-the-moon blue eyeers, or who just want a simple red dot to be used on range of firearms, TruGlo provides its new 30mm red Dot sight (model TG8030B.) Available from many sources online and offline, the TruGlo Red Dot Sight is an excellent value choice. This is especially true when compared with many of the other red dot sights currently on the market, which tend to either offer less features and/or performance, as compared with those offered in the more expensive ranges. With prices starting at under two hundred dollars (not including shipping), this is one sight that is very inexpensive yet performs superbly, making it a great value addition to any red dot user's arsenal.
The TruGlo Red Dot Sight comes in two varieties: the full package, which includes a carry case; and the standalone sight, which does not come with a carry case. In addition to having its own carry case, which can be detached and attached on the front of the rail, it also has a mounting system that can be attached on any rail with screws, mounting pad screws, or snap-on nuts. This mounting system has been calibrated and tested to work with all types of red dot sights, which is why it can work with any type of firearm. This mounting system can be removed, as well, making it easy to swap out the TruGlo sight if and when you want to upgrade or replace it. The system is also durable and easily cleaned, as it features an anti-reflective coating on the entire lens.
The TruGlo red dot comes with six different brightness settings. These brightness settings can be dimmed or increased for a more realistic look at targets. The brightness setting does a lot more than simply make targets appear closer, either. It can allow you to adjust for both accuracy and brightness when hunting.
The one negative thing about this product is that the TruGlo sight offers only six brightness settings, and although they are not dials for precision accuracy, they do offer a greater target range and a greater distance at which you can view your reticule. While accuracy is definitely not one of the TruGlo's advantages, the lower maximum range does limit the ability to focus the reticule on a particular area. Also, while the TruGlo lifetime warranty covers the lens, it does not cover the mounting system or the battery. In order for this warranty to be valid, you must own the sight as of the date of purchase.
Another pro for this product is that the TruGlo red dot sight comes with rubber lens caps. This is important because the sights come with rubber lens caps that protect the screen from dirt, debris, and other debris. The rubber lens caps make cleaning of the sight much easier, and this reduces maintenance time on the rifle scope. If cleaning is not an issue for you, the caps allow you to adjust brightness without having to remove the cap and take it off to adjust the brightness. This means that you can maintain the best level of accuracy without having to mess around with the scope in the process.
This product comes with an installation kit for the base, bolt, and every one of the screws and other hardware necessary to install the truglo red dot optics. The installation kit includes everything you need to mount your truglo scope on your firearm. Even though the assembly is straightforward, you should still follow the installation instructions carefully. This is because some models include a removable bottom cap for installation, and if you do not install the bottom cap on the proper side, it could damage the optic. Also, if you are not sure what type of scope you have, you should always ask an expert to help you out. There are many different types of scopes available, and each one uses a different type of mechanism to project an image onto the target.
Finally, a big pro for this sight is that it is shock-resistant. Shock-resistant is not the same as bullet-resistant. While bullets may be able to stop the barrel of a rifle from being damaged, they are not meant to impact the internal components of a gun. A red dot sight, however, is made out of glass that is extremely shock-resistant, which means that it will not shatter on impact like other sights would.
One con of the Truglo Red Dot Sight is its size. Although it is a large-aperture sight, it is not really large enough to take down a larger human, or even a large dog. This sight's optimal size would be between eight and ten inches. However, most hunters do not wish to carry a sight that length of distance away from their target. If you would prefer a small-aperture sight, however, the Moa Size Red Dot Sight would be a great choice.
