Firearms Information in Kings Canyon National Park
Since the first of the year 2013, it has been against the law in the state of California to openly carry a firearm in any of their parks. If you wish to possess a concealed firearm in the state of California’s National Parks, you need to have a concealed carry weapons permit (CCW) that is valid. No permit issued by any other state to carry a concealed weapon will be honored.
The possession of pepper spray (including bear spray and irritating gas devices), BB guns, pellet guns, bows and arrows, crossbows, blowguns, spearguns, spears thrown by hand, slingshots, explosive devices, and any other item that fires projectiles is prohibited in Kings Canyon National Park too.
Hunting in Kings Canyon National Park
In Kings Canyon National Park, there is absolutely no hunting allowed. Inside of the park, you are not permitted to fire your gun under any circumstances. Their restrictions on carrying concealed weapons are primarily intended to facilitate the transfer of firearms.
Fishing in Kings Canyon National Park
There are many areas in Kings Canyon National Park that allow for fishing. People who are 16 years old or older are needed to have a fishing license in the state of California. You can pick up copies of the rules and regulations that are specific to the park at any visitor center.
Additional Information About Kings Canyon National Park
The terrain in Yosemite Valley and Kings Canyon National Park is very similar. John Muir once said that Kings Canyon National Park was “a rival to Yosemite” because of its deep valleys, tall trees, and unusual rock formations.
Kings Canyon National Park is right next to Sequoia National Park in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. It is known for its big sequoia trees, especially the big General Grant Tree in Grant Grove. There are tall granite canyon walls on the east side of Cedar Grove. From here, you can take trails to Roaring River Falls and Zumwalt Meadow, which are both near the Kings River. The park is home to snakes, bears, and cougars.
