Reviewing the Tipton Gun Vise
The Tipton Gun Vise is an accessory that every shooter should own. Its unique design allows it to hold a firearm even when the stock is in the downward position. This feature is perfect for those who have an awkward or hard time holding a rifle in a prone position. The Vise attaches easily to the shooter's belt or other preferred carrying device. This accessory simplifies long shooting procedures and drastically increases the comfort of the shooter.
Product Overview The Tipton Gun Vise utilizes a rubberized grip and sturdy jaws to safely and gently hold your rifle for easy and safe long range shooting, scope mounting and general maintenance. The unique cam action quickly secures both long rifles and handguns. It can be easily removed for cleaning and for inspecting the contents of your pockets. The patented design, which uses a patented solvent-resistant polymer, makes it virtually indestructible. The product is made with a heavy duty black powder-coated aluminum and is machined with a cold, high torque, 4500 RPM, steel slide.
Product Performance The Tipton Gun Vise was designed for rapid action, safety, and ease of use. After testing it, I found that this product performed well overall, including easy setup and takedown, and a fast, accurate shot on target. Although it has an extremely positive review, I did have a couple of minor problems with it. One of the problems was that after using the product for about a month, the thumb screw on the side snapped after a few uses, forcing me to constantly remount it onto my belt.
Another issue was that after using the Tipton Gun Vise on my last target, I found that it caused a chipping of the target surface. Fortunately, I was shooting target after target over the next several days, and I simply worked the problem out. Another positive feature of the Tipton Gun Vise is that I was able to easily and properly adjust the length of the rubberized cradle with one hand, allowing me to rapidly change direction on my gun. The only negative point to me is that after using the Tipton Gun Vise on my last target, I discovered that it created a slightly longer than normal throw, but that issue was easily fixed by smoothing out the surface of the device with my finger. This quick review of the Tipton Gun Vise highlights several of the unique features of this product.
While the Tipton Gun Vise performed as described, I did find that it had a couple of negative points. First, after loosening the retaining pin in the Tipton Gun Vise to allow a firmer grip on the rifle barrel, it did take some time to fully lock into place. I also found that there were some problems with the rubberized cradle extending and contracting when I was not actively using the device. Overall, the overall performance of the Tipton Gun Vise was excellent, and I highly recommend it to gunsmiths, hobbyists, and rifle owners who regularly use handheld devices for modifications.
There are many positive aspects to the Tipton Gun Vise. First, it is extremely easy to assemble and disassemble for added convenience. Second, it provides an enhanced grip on small parts by permitting a firm and stable support from either the bottom or sides of the rifle barrel. Lastly, the rubberized cradle and jaws to accommodate moving parts make it easier to manipulate the spring and other small components. In addition, it has excellent suspension for accuracy and reliability, and it comes with one year warranty. These are just a few of the reasons why I love this particular gun vise.
A couple of months ago, I decided to purchase another Tipton Gun Vise in order to expand my collection of hand tools. Like the previous model, this vise has a rubberized cradle which allows for a strong and stable support for both the rifle's large rubberized barrel and the gears and other small parts of the gun. I also found a nice little rubberized storage container that mounts onto the back side of the Tipton Vise. This storage container serves its purpose of holding small accessories and other small parts while keeping them secure and out of site of the gun's actual sights. I also mounted a small carry handle in the front of the Tipton Vise. The Tipton Gun Vise easily accepts standard sized buttstocks and even longer rifle length stock, which makes it convenient for storing during times when you need to utilize larger buttstocks.
Since purchasing my new Tipton Gun Vise, I have been enjoying shooting all types of different firearms with both my regular sized Mecomber gun and the more powerful Long Rifle. The rubberized cradle that attaches to the back of the Tipton Gun Vise keeps the gun barrel out of the way, yet still allows for a steady and stable sighting picture. I no longer have to worry about accidental hits to my gun's sights as the Tipton Gun Vise holds them steady with the help of the rubberized cradle. And, unlike many vises, this one is very easy to clean - just give it a quick wipe down with a damp cloth.
